Roberto González Rivera

“I remember reading books when I was a boy and thinking, ‘Oh, if I could one day give someone else the pleasure I get from reading!’  Today,  I have more reasons for writing but that remains the most important one. I write to share what I have learned, to call attention to historical figures of Puerto Rico,

and to celebrate the beauty and strength of our culture and of the human spirit as I see it as a Puerto Rican writer and artist, but first I must move the reader. Whether it is with action, with tenderness, with horror, with humor

or with tragedy, I aim to touch the reader, to invite the reader to

open the door—to come out and play.”
